
Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has had repeated run-ins with the judicial system.
Here is a timeline of his arrests and court appearances.
August 11 2003
:: Doherty admits breaking into a flat belonging to Carl Barat in central London on July 25.
He is later sentenced to six months but the term is cut to two on appeal.
February 3 2005
:: Doherty, 25, is arrested on suspicion of assault and theft. He is later charged with robbery and blackmail of a documentary maker who claimed the singer wanted cash to buy drugs. The charges are dropped.
October 1 2005
:: The singer is held by West Mercia Police after an anti-drugs operation at the band's concert at Shrewsbury Music Hall, Shropshire. He is released and claims police mistook an implant to help him stay off drugs for "hard stuff".
November 30 2005
:: Doherty is arrested in west London on suspicion of possessing class A drugs.
January 10 2006
:: Doherty is charged with, and admits, possession of heroin and crack cocaine.
January 14 2006
:: Doherty is arrested again on suspicion of possessing class A drugs in Hackney, east London.
January 20 2006
:: Doherty is charged with, and admits, possessing heroin, crack cocaine, morphine and cannabis, on December 4.
January 26 2006
:: Doherty is arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin in Whitechapel, east London, when police find a wrap in his jeans. He admits the charge at Thames Magistrates' Court the following day and is remanded, forcing him to cancel a gig.
February 8
:: Doherty is sentenced to a 12-month community order at Ealing Magistrates' Court on seven charges of possessing illegal substances. He is required to attend a drug treatment programme.
March 3
:: Doherty is charged with seven counts of possessing drugs - namely cannabis, cannabis resin, heroin and crack referring to his arrest in December.
March 23
:: Doherty appears to kick a reporter on leaving Thames Magistrates' Court where he admits a series of drugs offences after arriving nearly two hours late. Sentencing is adjourned pending a review of Doherty's treatment order.
April 20
:: The singer is once again arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, only hours after he admits other possession charges in court and is sentenced to a community order with two years supervision and 18 months drug rehabilitation.
June 9
:: Doherty's treatment at a Portuguese drug clinic is "going well", a court is told.
August 8
:: Doherty admits five counts of possessing drugs including heroin and crack cocaine and is warned he could face jail.
September 9
:: The singer dodges jail on drugs charges after a judge praises his efforts to kick his habit and says she was impressed by one of his songs.
:: February 5 2007
Doherty is charged with four driving offences. He admits them and is told he faces jail if he drives without a licence again.
:: April 18
Judge McIvor praises Doherty for turning up to his treatment reviews. She says he is "more than co-operating" in his struggle to beat addiction.
:: May 5
Doherty is arrested for possessing drugs in Kensington High Street. It is these offences for which he will eventually be jailed.
:: August 20
Doherty is arrested just hours after performing at the V festival. He is charged with breaching his bail conditions but the charges are dropped because he did not appear in court within 24 hours.
:: October 2
The singer is given another chance to kick the habit and sentencing for drugs and driving offences is postponed to allow him to complete a rehabilitation course.
:: October 26
Doherty is given a four-month jail sentence for drug and motoring offences, suspended for two years. He is also given an 18-month supervision order and a 12-month drug rehabilitation order.
:: April 8 2008
Doherty is jailed for 14 weeks for breaching his probation order.
