Lily Allen is reportedly putting her plans for a new album on hold to pursue a career as a comic.

The Smile singer has been writing material with Gavin And Stacey duo Mathew Horne and James Corden for a new BBC3 sketch show, provisionally entitled Horne and Corden Have Come, according to the Sun.

Lily was spotted leaving a Teenage Cancer Trust comedy show with James last month, and it seems that the pair haven't stopped giggling together since.

A insider told the paper: "James loves her ideas and shares her sense of humour. He reckons the humour from Lily's first album, Alright, Still will come across on the small screen.

"If they can recreate the laughs they have together at the pub it should be interesting to see how their stuff turns out."

The 23-year-old singer seems to have comedy in her genes. Her dad Keith Allen was part of the popular Comic Strip Presents team in the 1980s alongside Dawn French, Rik Mayall and Jennifer Saunders.

She also spent three years living with Harry Enfield, when her mum Alison was dating the comic.
