Morgan Spurlock admits to being genuinely scared during filming

To prepare for his foray into war-torn and volatile territories for his latest film Where In The World Is Osama Bin Laden?, Morgan Spurlock reveals he needed serious training.

The documentary maker, probably most famous for his take on fast food and obesity in Supersize Me, underwent hostile environment training with former SAS men, which helped prepare him for the unexpected while filming for his movie about the war on terror, released in the UK on May 9.

"You can never be fully prepared but they try to get you at least in the mindset, so when things go bad, you have a framework to deal with it," he explains.

For protection, Morgan was accompanied by a security advisor who was on hand to tell the crew when they should leave.

"This guy knew when the s**t is about to hit the fan," he says. "We'd be on the ground and he'd say, 'We need to get the car and go.' We would leave a driver in the car all the time, so there would be no chance of somebody planting a bomb on the car.

"There's a tremendous amount of fear that comes with being in an area like that, but you just have to keep going."

He admits being genuinely scared at times. "When I was embedded with the military in Afghanistan, it was incredibly frightening," he says. "You do feel safe and protected because you are surrounded by guys with guns, but at the same time, these guys are targets."
