AJ McLean has assured fans that the Backstreet Boys will not be splitting up.

The boy band singer is currently on tour with the boys and is about to embark on a solo tour, but promised that did not mean he was quitting.

AJ said: "I definitely see myself as part of the group long-term. I think this is one thing we've all talked about - being in this group for the last 15 years this is kind of our home, this is where everything started and we never really forget where we came from.

"I definitely want to set myself apart as just being known as AJ and being able to go back to the BSB when I'm done doing my solo, I think it's a great opportunity.

"It's kind of one of those relationships where you can truly have your cake and eat it too. That should go for all of us to be able to go out and stand on their own and just establish themselves as a credible solo artist, and then be able to go back to a group that's been around for so long."

The 30-year-old singer added he cannot ever see himself retiring.

He said: "I don't want to stop until my wheels fall off and I really do love it. I'm passionate about it, I live for it and I love to be on stage. I do definitely want to settle down some day. But I'm so passionate about performing."
