Jane: I didn't help Robert
Jane Danson is reportedly fed up with rumours that she helped her husband Robert Beck get a part on Coronation Street.
Robert, who played Peter Harrison in former Channel 4 soap Brookside, will join the soap as hard man Jimmy Dockerson.
But 29-year-old Jane - who plays feisty Leanne Battersby - told New! magazine: "He was cast in the normal way, and it was nothing to do with me. I'm so proud of the fact he's joining. He's been in Emmerdale and Brookside, so he's earned this."
But another Coronation Street star reportedly told the mag they hope Jane doesn't set a trend among her co-stars for working with their partners.
They are quoted as saying: "The show bosses know it makes a great story to have a real-life husband and wife in the show, but I don't think it will go down well with fans if we all start working with our other halves, do you?"
