Robert De Niro has apparently revealed he hopes to make two sequels to The Good Shepherd.
The Oscar-winning actor directed, produced and acted in the CIA Cold War drama starring Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon as the hero Edward Wilson.
De Niro revealed at a press conference at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival - where he was presented with a lifetime achievement award - he hopes to make two more films following Wilson's character up to the present day, according to Variety.com.
The 64-year-old star apparently said the first would be set in 1988 and the second sequel would bring the story up to date. Although he is not working on research for the planned trilogy, De Niro said being in central Europe offered a good opportunity to begin thinking about the material.
He said: "I had not been planning to do research on that while here, but it is a good idea."
De Niro also spoke of his long-established collaboration with Martin Scorsese. He said it had been "a lot of fun" working with the acclaimed director and he hoped they would make two more films together.
