Bale: I like Batman's duality
Christian Bale has said he was attracted to the part of Batman because of his "duality".
The actor - who stars as the caped crusader in the latest instalment, The Dark Knight - spoke about the character's inner conflict.
Christian said: "I don't know about anybody else, but I like him because he has such duality to him. He's at war with himself.
"He has very altruistic notions but he has very, very violent tendencies as well. He's got to keep that in check. He has good motives, but he also has a dark side.
"And conflict is something that I personally find fascinating and I assume that's what other people find fascinating."
The actor stars alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger in the film.
The 34-year-old is known for his dark and disturbed roles including Patrick Bateman in American Psycho and Trevor Reznik in The Machinist.
