Gary: No desire for fame

Gary Oldman does not desire to be really famous

Despite having lived in Hollywood for more than 20 years, Gary Oldman says he has no desire to be really famous.

"It's a whole other career," says the British-born actor. "You have to really really lust for it. You have to really want to be famous. I've never had a publicist. I haven't got the energy to be famous. I've got to have another career being famous. It's another job."

And despite having being nominated for a Best Acting Bafta and an Emmy gong, Gary says he isn't too bothered about being getting an Oscar nod.

"You've got to be on shows and magazines and then you've got to promote, and you've got to do so much if you really want that Oscar," he says. "I don't covet it. I've never really coveted the thing, because you've really got to work.

As much as someone will say, 'I'm a serious actor, leave me alone,' they're still out there doing all that stuff."
