More Hollywood glamour is descending on the Venice Film Festival, with stars discussing drama The Burning Plain.
The movie, starring Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger, is showing in competition at the festival.
It is one of five US productions out of 21 films competing for the Golden Lion.
The Burning Plain explores the mysterious connection between several characters separated by time and space.
Mexico City-born director Guillermo Arriaga said the story came from his deep love of nature and the human condition.
He said in his director's statement: "I wanted to tell stories of extreme love, each one based on one of the four elements; fire, earth, water and air."
Earlier this week, Brad Pitt and George Clooney attended the festival for their film Burn After Reading, showing out of the competition, which opened this year's event.
