Peaches Geldof has hit back at critics who say her Las Vegas nuptials were for publicity.

"People misinterpreted the situation," she said. "We got married for love. I'm really, really happy."

Peaches and Max Drummey, a musician from US band Chester French, married last month. The couple first met a year ago but wed in August following a whirlwind month-long romance after Max performed at the iTunes Festival in Camden where Peaches was presenting coverage for ITV2.

Speaking at Preen's S/S09 show at New York Fashion Week, Sir Bob's daughter revealed: "I'm over here with my husband, and, yes, I'm living and working in New York. I've started college and I'm writing a column for Nylon magazine and doing a new TV show - it's going really well."

Peaches arrived at the Preen show with pal and co-presenter of Nylon TV, Cory Kennedy. She sported a sequinned headband, American Apparel leggings, vintage t-shirt and Topshop blazer with corsage, and sat on the front row next to British singer Roisin Murphy.

Making the most of her stateside fashion week, Peaches revealed she was particularly looking forward to Justin Timberlake's William Rast collection: "I'm really interested to see Justin's show because when he was in *NYSNC he really couldn't dress!" she joked.

Peaches may be settled in New York - she is currently living with hubby Max in Williamsburg, a neighbourhood in Brooklyn - but confirmed she will regularly be flying back to the UK to see her family.
