Boy George has compared himself to Gordon Brown - saying they both know what it like to be picked on.

The singer told the Independent that he thought the criticism of the Prime Minister was encouraged by hostile reality TV.

"I'm bored of everyone attacking him. It's a sign of our times. If you look at our TV, it's all about people ganging up on the individual," he said.

"I think people have turned politics into a reality TV show. When people turn on you, I know exactly what it's like. I know what it's like to be Gordon Brown. I'm very conscious people think I'm a disaster," he continued.

The singer added that he sympathised with Barack Obama too.

"Being black in America means you're an outsider and I relate to that as a gay man," he said.
