A jury has been selected in Britney Spears' trial for driving without a licence.
Police officers, a celebrity website employee, and possibly the pop singer's father, James, are set to give evidence in the case.
The 26-year-old star, whose new single, Womaniser, is number one in the Billboard charts, was not in court in Los Angeles.
The mostly-female jury includes a schoolteacher and others who work in a variety of industries, including banking, insurance and healthcare.
Some prospective jurors were disqualified when they expressed strong feelings against Spears and the paparazzi.
The charge is the last remnant of a case that stemmed from an accident last August in which Spears, who did not have a valid California licence, hit a parked car and left the scene.
Drivers are supposed to get a California licence within 10 days of establishing residency.
