Victoria Hart has branded The X Factor an easy route to fame.

The 19-year-old jazz singer - who was propelled into the spotlight after performing for George Clooney and Brad Pitt at Cannes Film Festival last year - said while she worked hard studying music, many of the talent show finalists are just seeking fame.

Victoria said: "Ever since I was 15 I was working in a studio every weekend, I kind of lost my childhood in a way, I just wanted it so bad. But these people they just go, 'I'm going to try it out', and if they've got the luck they make it to the top.

"It can be really amazing, look at Leona. But it's too soon and it's too easy.

"It all has to be a sob story on X Factor and you look at the people who are in the finals and some of them are horrible and can't even sing in tune. I hate when people start crying on the show.

"One this year went, 'I work as a waitress and all these celebrities are coming in and I want to be going to eat at the restaurant instead of serving them', and I thought, great reason to want to be on the show! They mainly just want to be famous."

Victoria was working as a waitress when she was hired to perform at Clooney's Cannes party last year, which helped her get a record deal.

Her new album The Lost Gershwin is released on Monday October 27.
