John Sergeant has hit back at the judges on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 64-year-old political broadcaster has entertained viewers with his shambolic but charming dancing with professional partner Kristina Rhianoff, but judges have said that he no longer deserves to be on the show.

"It is funny how judges both in real life and on Strictly Come Dancing lose touch with the views of ordinary people," John told the Daily Mail.

"I am a bit startled by all this because we are trying to do our best and if the audience like us, that can't be wrong under the rules of the show," he said.

Previously, judge Bruno Tonioli has said he was "spitting feathers" about John being kept on the show, despite the judges' low scores for his performances.

Craig Revel Horwood told the BBC this week that he thought John should go.

"I still maintain that this is a dance competition. You need people that can dance," he said.
