Kelly Macdonald's exotic experience

Kelly Macdonald never gets bored of making movies

Kelly Macdonald has said filming Choke was like a "strange exotic dream".

The Scottish actress stars as a sexed up psychiatric nurse with a twist in the film adaptation of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk's novel.

And she told Total Film magazine that making the film, which centres around the relationship between a sex addict (played by Sam Rockwell) and his dying mother (played by Angelica Houston), was a surreal experience.

"Every time I came into work I'd look and see what everyone was up to and it was always something completely ridiculous or overtly sexual," she said.

"We were shooting all night and if it wasn't night we'd start shooting late in the day and go on into the night. The whole film felt like a really strange exotic dream to me."

The actress, who has also been in films such as Trainspotting and No Country For Old Men, added she thinks she has been lucky to get so many interesting roles.

"I don't get bored with filmmaking. I'm lucky in that I've not been typecast. I'm not like Angelina Jolie by any stretch of the imagination, so I have to rely on the character more than anything else," she said.

The full feature is available in issue 149 of Total Film magazine, on sale this Friday.

Choke is out on Friday November 21.
