Kiefer Sutherland has revealed he's desperate to make 24 into a movie.

The actor was speaking at a special event in Beverly Hills celebrating a two-hour special of the show which airs on Sky next week.

Kiefer said he was definitely up for bringing the hit action show to the big screen.

"I've been ready for years," he said.

But he added that making the show itself had made it hard to find time to make a movie.

"I think from the writers' perspective it's so hard to get through a season and the second we end they start on the next one but I certainly hope we will one day because I would love to tackle the idea of a 24 hour day represented in a two hour film," he said.

Kiefer wasn't the only one keen to see the show made into a film. The show's executive producer and director Jon Cassar said he was not ruling it out as an option.

"There's always talk," he explained "but we probably have to wait until the television show is over and then deal with a feature film."

Fans will be pleased to hear the show looks certain to run for least two more seasons, with Day 7 airing in the UK in the new year.

:: To get fans in the mood though, 24: Redemption a two-hour special set in Africa airs on Monday November 24 at 10pm on Sky1 and Sky1 HDqq.
