Michael Jackson has reportedly converted to Islam and changed his name to Mikaeel.
The King Of Pop became a Muslim in an official religious ceremony overseen by an Imam at a friend's Los Angeles mansion, The Sun reports.
Michael, 50, is said to have donned Islamic robes and head wear and sat on the floor to pledge allegiance to the Koran at the Hollywood Hills home of Toto keyboard player Steve Porcaro, 51.
A source claimed the singer, brought up as a Jehovah's Witness, decided to convert as he used a studio at the home of his friend to record a new album.
Michael reportedly appeared "a bit down" to the Islamic producer and songwriter.
The source said: "They began talking to him about their beliefs, and how they thought they had become better people after they converted. Michael soon began warming to the idea. An Imam was summoned from the mosque and Michael went through the shahada, which is the Muslim declaration of belief."
Mikaeel is the name of one of Allah's angels.
"Jacko rejected an alternative name, Mustafa -- meaning 'the chosen one'," the source claimed.
Michael's older brother Jermaine Jackson converted to Islam in 1989. He has previously said he has persuaded Michael to covert too, and gave him books on religion, but this has never been confirmed.
Michael is due to give evidence at London's High Court on Monday in a £4.7 million lawsuit brought by Prince Abdulla Al-Khalif of Bahrain.
