Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah has re-entered the music charts ahead of the The X Factor winner's release of the same song.

Fans of the late singer's cover of the Leonard Cohen song have been buying the song in protest of the TV talent competition winner's forthcoming version, NME.com reports.

Jeff's 1994 version, which comes from his album Grace, has reached No 42 in the download charts which may put it in competition with the version recorded by The X Factor winner.

The winner will be announced after this Saturday's final but finalists Eoghan Quigg, Alexandra Burke and JLS have already recorded the single in anticipation.

A group has been set up on social networking site Facebook urging Jeff Buckley fans to boycott the forthcoming release, and to buy Jeff's version instead.
