Nicolas Cage was apparently mistaken for a poor man

Nicolas Cage has found himself being offered spare change by British children due to a case of mistaken identity.

The National Treasure star - thought to be worth £22.5 million - lives near Bath and happened to be drinking in a Starbucks in the city recently at the same time as a film crew were filming there for Tonight With Trevor McDonald.

According to The Daily Telegraph, a group of school children spotted the camera and asked if they were filming anyone famous. They were told the crew were filming a reporter who had been asked to live on nothing for two weeks and he was inside the shop trying to get a free coffee.

The children ran inside and pounced on Hollywood star Nicolas Cage telling him "You poor man, have some money", as they showered him with change.
