David Duchovny thanked his wife Tea Leoni in his first public appearance since he was treated for sex addiction.
"I'm thankful for so much," he told E! on the red carpet of the Golden Globe awards for which he was nominated for his role in TV series Californication. "I'm just most thankful for my life and my family. My wife and my kids - the simple things in life. My gratitude opens my heart every day. I feel blessed."
The actor announced that he and his wife were separating after he went into rehab for sex addiction last year. They have two children, Madelaine West and Kyd.
"You do change. It's all about the actions," he said when asked about the past year. "I hope the people close to me and my loved ones feel the change."
The X Files star, who plays novelist Hank Moody on Californication, lost out to Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock, who won the Golden Globe gong for the category Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
