Mel Raido said it was a pleasure to work with Mickey Rourke, despite his bad boy persona.

The actor worked with the 80s star, who is currently enjoying a comeback with The Wrestler, on forthcoming film The Informers and said it was an ambition fulfilled.

"I got to hang with Mickey (Rourke) for a couple of weeks, I am a huge fan of his (work) - Pope Of Greenwich Village, Barfly, Angel Heart - I think he is a phenomenal actor, so it was a pleasure to be in his presence for sure," he said.

Mel plays a rock star in The Informers, for which he based his performance on rock legend Iggy Pop, and a club bouncer in forthcoming film Clubbed. Both movies are set in the 80s so he joked that he couldn't escape that decade.

"Informers... is about to open in Sundance, which is a Bret Eastern Ellis film. I play a character called Bryan Metro who's a rock star and again it's about the 80s but this time in LA. I can't (escape the 80s) it loves me, it's got it's claws in me," he said.

:: Clubbed is out in cinemas on Friday January 16.
