Janet Jackson postponed her tour of Japan due to economic crisis

Janet Jackson has been forced to postpone her forthcoming tour of Japan due to the global economic crisis.

The 42-year-old singer was due to perform at a series of gigs in the far east between February 14 and February 22.

But concert promoter Kyodo Yokohama has told journalists that the shows are off "due to the impact of the economic crisis."

It is the latest setback to befall the star, who has struggled to recreate the success of her early 1990s heyday.

She had planned to hit Japanese cities Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka as part of the Asian leg of her Rock Witchu tour.

But the dates have now been rescheduled for later this year.
