Heath Ledger's father not taking Oscar win for granted

Heath Ledger may be tipped by many to win a posthumous Oscar on Sunday night, but his dad Kim isn't taking anything for granted.

"I'm extremely proud," he told TMZ.com about his late son's Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role in The Dark Knight.

"You can't expect to win something like this. (The Academy) could just as easily turn left, as it could go right. You can't take anything for granted."

Kim revealed he and many family members have flown in from Perth, Australia, for the Oscar ceremony. But attending the show on Heath's behalf is "bittersweet, obviously," he said.

However, if his son does win for his role as the anarchistic Joker, Kim "may say a few words."

Heath died last January, at age 28, of an accidental drug overdose.
