Teams of workers are putting the finishing touches to gardens which will be on display at Chelsea Flower Show this week.

The five-day event in London showcases the cream of international horticulture and is set to attract 157,000 visitors.

Opening to the public on Tuesday, the Queen and a host of other Royals will tour the displays.

With 600 exhibitors displaying their best efforts to come up with innovative concepts, the event has become the highlight of the gardening calendar.

Top designers behind the vast array of green creations were on site today to oversee work.

Among them was Yvonne Innes, who has worked with George Harrison's widow Olivia to produce a garden in his memory.

The Material World Charitable Foundation's show garden Life to Life, A Garden for George, aims to depict the keen gardener and Chelsea regular's journey from the material to the spiritual world.

Australian TV presenter and horticulturist Jamie Durie brings a taste of down under to his design - Fleming's & Trailfinders Australian Garden.

The exotic is also on show in designer Shao Fan's I Dream, I Seek My Garden which features a sunken pavilion surrounded by indigenous Chinese plants.

Giant white daisy constructions, meanwhile, dominate The Oceanico Garden which is a collaboration between celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin and Sir Terence Conran.
