Europe's biggest onshore wind farm is due to be switched on by Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond.
ScottishPower's 140-turbine Whitelee Wind Farm in East Renfrewshire is said to be capable of generating enough energy to power 180,000 homes.
The connection for the final array of turbines will be switched on.
Mr Salmond - whose SNP Government has said it favours renewable energy over nuclear power - is expected to make an announcement during the visit.
He will meet Ignacio Galan, chief executive of Iberdrola, the Spanish company which owns ScottishPower, along with Nick Horler, chief executive of ScottishPower, and Keith Anderson, managing director of ScottishPower Renewables.
Mr Salmond will also be opening a Scottish Gas "energy academy" in Hamilton.
The training centre is part of the power firm's stated commitment to double the number of apprentice engineers in Scotland to more than 100 each year.
It will help train engineers in "green technologies", such as domestic micro-generation, energy-efficient produce and smart meters, so they can advise customers.
