One in eight people are considering moving abroad to escape the economic problems now gripping Britain, according to a new study.
A survey of almost 2,000 Britons also showed that 8% were withdrawing money from banks and building societies to protect themselves against economic instability.
Combined Insurance said its study revealed that a third of people were shopping around for better savings and mortgage rates, while some were having to move in with relatives after getting into financial difficulty.
Previous research for the company has shown that more than one in four adults has no savings to fall back on.
