The night-time "urban glow" that hangs over much of southern England appears not to have cast a cloud over UFO-watching activities.
For people in the south east claimed to have seen more unidentified flying objects per head per population than anywhere else in Britain, according to a survey by insurance company esure.
In contrast, only 7% of Scots have seen a UFO despite the clearer and darker night skies north of the border.
West Midlanders claim to have seen the least UFOs, with only 6% of them admitting sighting one.
All told, 12% of Britons said they had seen a UFO with 2% of those surveyed claiming to have seen more than five UFOs. The survey results come after details of UFO sighting instances were released by the Ministry of Defence.
