MySpace marriage proposal to be won

9 February 2009 06:13pm

Popping the question is nerve-wracking enough, but imagine doing it in front of several million people.

One lucky romantic will have the chance to do just that after social networking site MySpace offered to splash one proposal on its homepage this Valentine's Day.

The notice, including a photograph of the couple, will be the first thing UK users see when logging on to the website on February 14.

MySpace often gives up its homepage for advertising big-money film, music and brand launches, but this will be the first time it has done so for a personal message.

Hopefuls have until midnight this Thursday, February 12, to submit an application via the website's dedicated Valentine's day page, MyCupid.

Entrants must send in a photo of themselves with their loved one and a message of 150 words explaining why they want to propose.

The winner will be notified - somewhat ominously - on Friday, February 13.
