Hospital alcohol admissions double

There were 207,788 NHS hospital admissions in England with a primary or secondary diagnosis related to alcohol in 2006/07, new figures show.

This number has more than doubled from the 93,459 in 1995/96.

The official figures were released by the Information Centre for Health and Social Care.
